It was supposed to rain, like all day and into the night. but at 5pm, when we were supposed to meet the bride and groom out under the blooming crab apple trees at the Arboretum not a drop could be found! And it stayed that way until they said their “i do’s” two/three hours later! I mean we couldn’t have planned the more perfect opportunity for the most amazing photos! And a little secret I learned? Head out to the Arboretum after a freshly fallen rain…it was the middle of spring, blooming everything everywhere and hardly a person around! We literally had the place to ourselves and that made for the most gorgeous backdrops to the cutest couple! Congratulations Alli & Josh! All the best! xx! the bellasaluti girls

Some times my couples are hesitant to see each other before they walk down the aisle. For many reasons I think it’s a great idea to have a “First Look” set up and see each other before the wedding.

Believe me, you are not missing out on the “walking down the aisle” experience if you see each other before the wedding. The experience is the combination of the people and the music and your significant other waiting at the end of the aisle…the anticipation leading up to and the excitement of being in that moment are what make that moment so memorable and special.

Seeing each other prior to walking down the aisle might actually help calm your nerves. There’s a certain comfort in getting that first moment out of the way and just being with one another, experiencing the day together!

Think about it, here you are seeing each other for the first time in front of A LOT of people! A private first look where you can chat and hug and {maybe} shed a tear or two alone is a very sweet and memorable experience…not to mention it makes for great photos!

And lastly…prior to the wedding there are tons of questions to answer, from “where does this go” and “who has that” to “I can’t find the…” and “I thought you had the…” it’s nice to just leave all of that stress behind for a while, take a break and really focus on what the day is all about…the two of you! Enjoy! xx! ciao! natalie

The first wedding I ever photographed was my cousin’s wedding…I’m pretty sure she hired a photographer for the important stuff…but she also asked me if I would use my dad’s Pentax to take some photographs of the wedding as well…I was in high school…and I thought I was the BOM! I don’t think I’ve even ever seen a photo that I took from that wedding…it was quite a while ago and I won’t be including the year here as not to date myself…or the bride! But it was most definitely completely shot on film…for all I know only 1 photo turned out worth keeping!…but that single opportunity set the stage for what would become one of my greatest passions, wedding photography.

Fast forward a couple of years and this time I was asked to photograph my sister-in-law’s wedding…I didn’t bust out the Pentax…maybe I should have!? This was one of those magical moments where everything comes together so beautifully…the entire wedding was do-it-yourself…from the gathered goblets and dishes to the collected quilts and farmers market bouquets. Everything was perfectly thought out and so well executed…and have I mentioned the music?! Seriously. Swoon. Mary, my sister-in-law is an amazing actress with a voice that will bring a tear to your eye, she’s seriously performed in so many shows in theaters from the Twin Cities to Duluth and beyond, I’ve lost track of them all…and Blake, her husband is like the most amazing musician…my favorite description of his sound is, “Somber, weary, honky-tonk folk-rock that should suit lonely drinkers as well as anyone itchin’ for an old-timey bar brawl.” I mean, who wouldn’t want to be these peoples besties!?

So yeah, to say the wedding was awesome is kind of an understatement…enjoy! xx! ciao! natalie

To say that the last couple of months have been busy is certainly an understatement! For those of you who don’t know we’ve moved! Our studio is now located in Excelsior, a few miles from the old location. We love the lakes area and being near the beautiful historic Excelsior community. We’ve downsized, physically we are in less square feet than the old studio, but it’s a welcome change! It’s forced us to purge and get rid of all the extra stuff we were holding on to…we just love how fresh and clean and organized everything is!

Now that we are settling in, and have a bit of breathing room, we are digging in and getting the rest of our year planned! From mini sessions and inspiration sessions to some exciting new product offerings, engagements and weddings…we are gearing up for the year ahead and look forward to sharing it all with you! xx! the bellasaluti girls!
